Our Little One

I didn’t give you the gift of life, but in my heart I know.
The love I feel is deep and real, as if it had been so.
For us to have each other is like a dream come true!
No, I didn’t give you the gift of life, life gave me the gift of you.

New Trick

All afternoon Keaton has been walking around like he is in a kickboxing class. He will take a step and then kick his foot up. He seems to think it is fun way to make walking interesting.

Enjoying the Sunshine

We got outside last night to enjoy some sunshine and it looks like it was a good thing we did... it rained most of the day today!
Peeking through the fence trying to see our neighbors dog.
Telling us ALL about what he saw!
This is his excited look when he is really trying to tell us something. He is SERIOUSLY trying to make us understand his talking.

Run, run, run! We love seeing him run, it is so cute and he just loves doing it.

Redecorating

We have been redecorating to get ready for our little girl! We painted an old dresser that we got from Nana and Papa for a changing table in Keaton's room.
Here are a few photos of his room completed!
This is how it turned out. We love it! Of course we had to get fishing creel and trout drawer pulls.

He is doing GREAT in his big bed. He really hasn't had any problems adjusting and is going to sleep all by himself in it. The only problem is he can't climb back up in it without help so he has just had to learn not to get out. He is even doing great with that! He knows he is in trouble when he get out of bed so one of these mornings I will probably find him sleeping on the floor because he has got out and doesn't want us to know!
The painting is now done in her room too! We just got all of the furniture moved back in. I still have to hang stuff on the walls but the basics are all ready.

It is hard to see the paint but it is light pink on top and a brown glaze on the bottom. It is beautiful. I will try to take a better picture during the day sometime this week.
We are getting ready, this week I see lots of laundry and ironing in my future. I am going to try to get her clothes washed and bags packed. Just a little less than 4 weeks until we head up, which sounds like quite a while..... however.... we got a call from her birth mother and she just warned us that we better be ready in case she comes early!!! So we are going to try and be prepared just in case.

Recovering

What a VERY sick boy we have had.... we had a terrifying night last week when Keaton was struggling to breath. We took him into the doctor and he has/had RSVand broncialitis. So he was on Prednisone and is getting Nebulizer treatments for a while. He is finally bouncing back now that he can breath. He still is really coughing but is getting better.
All you parents know exactly what it is like when kids don't feel good and won't eat very much. You try anything and everything. Wednesday evening he hadn't ate all day so we tried all his favorites at dinner... cottage cheese, humus, crackers and dried cranberries! Needless to say he ate partly because we showed him that he could dip his crackers in humus! Now everything must be dipped. After he ran out of crackers he decided that his pacifier (which didn't leave his side for a couple of days) would work. He would dip it in and suck it off and then repeat!

Daddy giving our boy treatments. He got used to them but he still does not really like them at all.

Today he is finally chatting up a storm again which is so nice to hear. He is now saying, "bye, bye", "asketball" basketball, "baball" balloon. He likes those B words!

17 Months

I will use Keaton turning 17 months last week as an excuse for having yet more photos taken of him. Really I actually needed some test shots with my new studio lights before the family came that I was doing photos of and who better to use than our adorable little boy!
I also was told by some adoring uncles that I don't post enough photos of Keaton.... go figure that one! They said he was growing up too fast and so I needed more pictures so they wouldn't miss anything.... we say..... COME HOME AND VISIT!!! This photo is just for you guys, and no it wasn't staged, he was just being a goon.

We put his hands in his pockets and he couldn't stand still. As long as his hands were in there he must be walking.

Now we have a VERY sick little boy! Lets hope this passes rather quickly and Mommy and Daddy escape it. Keaton has added a word to his vocabulary, "cheese", plain as day.

Growing Up

Our baby boy is no longer here, he has been gradually replaced with a toddler. We gave him a real cup to drink out of and he did great. After the first shocking front-full of water he got the hang of it.

We also have moved him into a big boy bed.... literally! He is in what used to be our guest bed which is a double size log bed! He looks so little in it but he has done great.
Already trying to figure out how to get out of this!
Once it was all put together we brought him in to see what he thought! The first thing he did was give the bears a BIG kiss... it passed the test and was acceptable to sleep in.

Just a little excited about everything! Now that the guest bedroom is cleaned out I can start painting it and turning it into a nursery for baby sister!

Montana Trip

We spent this last week in Billings again with our little girl and her birth family!! She is doing good and growing! We got to hear her heart beat again which was really special. It was a lot faster this time, so she must have been awake! It is getting closer and we are really getting excited! I will take photos of her room as soon as we finish painting! Meanwhile here are some more photos of our favorite little boy.
Yes, walking with our eyes closed is still the best thing to do.
In our hotel kitchen he discovered the lids to the pans.... they make LOTS of noise and are a new favorite toy.
We got in a trip to the park while we were there. All this Daddy time has been REALLY nice! They raced down the slides more times than I could count.

Such a big helper! He pushed all of our luggage out to the car for us, with Daddy's help of course.
On the way home we went to the Zoo! Of course it was the only cold day but the kids had a blast!
Keaton LOVED the horse.

We were so impressed how well Keaton picked out every single animal! He will love the zoo this summer.

It is so nice to be home but we had a great trip!

Personal Play Gym

Mommy and Daddy got Keaton a play set for our backyard about a week ago! I got tired of Keaton always wanting to go outside and then promptly getting bored because there wasn't anything to do. He LOVES it! Of course the FIRST thing he discovers is that he can climb on TOP of the tunnel!

We have learned that there are hundreds of ways to go down slides. Many of which give Mommy and Daddy heart failure! The problem lies in the turning around to get your feet in front of you. Often you end up going down with your feet at weird angles! It is also a long way down to fall off the top!
He has discovered that the safest way is to go down head first on his tummy. Although terrifying at first it gets better.

Definitely lots of fun!
